For your consideration we have an unusually large 19th century salt glazed lidded crock with the original lid and bail and wooden handle. It measures 9 1/2 inches tall and 8 inches wide. It is in fair condition with age related crazing, a chip on the rim and several hairlines. Please carefully inspect the pictures as they are an important part of this description. The hairlines do not appear to effect the soundness of the piece, as it still holds water. It displays well. This shape was often used to hold preserves or other kitchen items, but I was unable to find another one in this size, so I hesitate to call it a preserve jar. It would be a great display piece!
